DIY Valentine’s Day Cards for Toddlers

Sharing some cute & easy Valentine’s Day cards you can do with your toddler with just a few things!

Potato Stamping

This is one craft that can get messy ( but don’t worry, if you don’t want something messy I’ve got a couple more ideas below)

What You’ll Need:

  • potatoes
  • knife
  • heart cookie cutter
  • paint
  • heavy cardstock paper
  • scissors (if you want to cut out a heart from the larger paper)

Step 1: I used a potato, knife, & a heart shaped cookie cutter to make a stamp.

Step 2: Then we used the heart stamps above to create these valentines

Step 3: Once dry I cut out larger hearts!

Mess Free Painting

This is a great activity, especially when you don’t want a huge mess!

What You’ll Need:

  • Heavy cardstock
  • Large ziploc baggies
  • paint
  • scissors (to cut paper down to a size where it will fit completely in the large ziploc bag)
  • painter’s tape

Step One: You’ll need to cut your cardstock down so it fits completely inside the large ziploc bag. Before placing the paper in the zip loc bag, pour small amounts of paint all over the paper & then carefully slide it into the bag. Close the bag and tape it down to either the floor or a table.

Step 2: Let your child push the paint around so it covers the entire paper. You can do this either on a table or the floor.

Step 3: Once they are done, you’ll need to remove the paper from the bag so it can dry. I found it easiest to cut the ziploc bag otherwise you’ll end up with paint all over your hands.

Step 4: Once dry, I used a large heart cookie cutter to trace hearts and then cut them out.

Stickers

This might be the simplest one yet (again no mess)!

What You’ll Need:

  • stickers
  • heavy cardstock cut into hearts

Step 1: You’ll want to precut hearts out of the cardstock before giving them to your child to decorate.

Step 2: I then put a piece of painters tape on the backside of the heart & placed it on the table along with stickers.

Some other ways you could decorate heart valentines:

  • dot markers
  • markers
  • crayons
  • stamps & stamp pad

Lastly, I printed out “Happy Valentine’s Day! Love, Mackenzie” and glued it onto each heart.

I like to mail them to family & friends with a current picture of Mackenzie!
