How We’re Prepping Our Daughter for Baby Brother’s Arrival
We are preparing to welcome a new addition to our family & since Mackenzie is currently an only child we are doing our best to get her ready for her baby brother’s arrival. This is definitely not my area of expertise, but I’m hoping some of the things we are doing now will help when he’s actually here (I’ll do another post once he’s here about what’s working & what didn’t work so great!) Books- we have a few books that we are reading with Mackenzie that will help her understand that a new baby is coming! The Baby is Here! (Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood) You’re a Big Sister (here’s the…

Great Games to Play with One Other Person or Your Whole Family
With the holidays just around the corner, I figured I’d make a list of some fun games that Greg and I have been playing recently. I have to give a lot of credit to my Aunt for introducing us to a bunch of these games and I love that they’re games just Greg and I can play or games we can play with more people. If you’re going to a family gathering for the holidays or it’s just you and your spouse or partner at home, these games are super fun to play! Tips for Traveling with an 11 Month Old
We just took our first trip to Orlando with our daughter Mackenzie (11 months old), which also was her first time on an airplane. We stayed at the JW Marriott Grand Lakes and made sure to book a suite, so we had a room where we could put Mackenzie down for naps and bedtime and we could stay up, watch tv, and chat (and not go to bed at 7pm). TIP #1: If possible, book a suite when staying in a hotel and you won’t have to go to bed at the same time as your kid! Also, staying at this big chain hotel was helpful because they were able…

Who Knew Picking a Baby Name Could Be So Difficult
I’m working on my daughter’s birth story (only 9 month’s later) so I figured I’d first write about how we decided on her name and formally introduce her! I was definitely that girl who had a list of names I liked even before I met my husband. In the Jewish religion we name after the deceased so I was always thinking of names that started with certain letters to honor my grandparents who were no longer here with us. Once I met my husband and we had been dating for a couple of years, I expanded my list to include the letter’s of his grandparent’s who were no longer here…

Putting My 8.5 Month Old Daughter On Skis
If you know me then you know how special this was for me and if you don’t know me let me tell you! I have been skiing since I was 3, going to Vermont every weekend in the winter with my family since I was little. Skiing is just in my blood and also why my blog is named what it is. Growing up the drive from Long Island was about 4 hours to our home in Wilmington, Vermont, but back then it was just a normal drive for us every weekend. Once I was moved to Connecticut, the drive became a 2.5 hour drive, which was incredible! Once I…

Awesome Children’s Book Subscription Service
As a former preschool special education teacher, you can imagine I have read many children’s books. I absolutely love the classics like Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, but what I love even more than the classics is discovering new books I have never heard of before! That’s where Split Rock Books and their book subscription services comes in. They are a small business in Cold Spring, New York and can ship you any books they carry. My sister-in-law gifted M a picture book subscription for the holidays and I loved the idea so much, we purchased a board book subscription as well! Split Rock Books subscriptions get…

Great Ways to Stay Connected During a Pandemic
Staying in touch with family and friends has been at the forefront for me since the pandemic began. I wanted to find a way to share all of the pictures I have taken of our new little love with family and friends, even if I can’t see them in person for months! Pictures run in my blood (my poppee was a photographer and my mom lives for taking a million photos) so naturally my camera roll on my phone is FILLED with so many pictures, so I wanted to find ways to share these with those closest to me! I wanted to share all the ways we’ve been able to…

What Happens When Mom Doesn’t Take Care of Herself
As a mom we often get caught up in making sure everything gets done (dishes, laundry, work stuff, to-do lists, etc) and we end up neglecting ourselves. I did this a week ago and ended up feeling so sick that I was nervous I had COVID (getting sick during a pandemic can be scary)! I started to have symptoms (sore throat, cough, lower back pain) that could have meant I had COVID, so I went and got a rapid test that night and it came back in a few hours and it was negative (thank g-d). I still wasn’t convinced so the next morning my husband and I got PCR…
