Breaking Down 2 Awesome Lightweight Strollers for Your Family
I was on the hunt to find the perfect lightweight stroller to use with Mackenzie because using my full size stroller for quick errands was becoming too difficult. Also, my husband is of the mindset of not wanting to own a million different strollers, so I really had to do a lot of research before buying one. I ended up buying two to try out and was planning on returning one, but my in-laws bought the other one instead!
This post is in no way sponsored or affiliated with either company, just giving you my honest opinion on both!
Let me share what was on my must have list before purchasing a lightweight stroller:
- lightweight (of course)
- snack tray
- ability to use with 2 kids
- upright seat
- compact folding
After asking friends & looking online I ordered the Zoe Tour+ (LUXE) & Uppababy Minu strollers. I went with the Zoe Tour+ in luxe over classic for a few reasons. The luxe comes with a better basket, wicking fabric, ball bearing wheels, & leatherette handles.
Weight
Zoe Tour + Luxe: 12.5lbs (can be used up to 45lbs)
Uppababy Minu: 14.8lbs (can be used up to 50lbs)
Brakes
The Minu has your typical red & green brakes, where you only have to step on one to lock & one to release the brake. The Zoe you have to step on both sides to lock it in place & step on both to release. This is such a minor difference, but something I noticed & wanted to share.
Folding
I found both super easy to fold, but like anything it will get easier with practice.
The Minu is a trifold so it folds up smaller, but taller. The Zoe folds up longer in length than the Minu, but its more compact. I took pictures to show you exactly what I’m talking about. The Minu stands up on its own when folded, but the Zoe did not.
I love the carrying strap that comes on the Minu. You can buy carry straps here for the Zoe as well.
Seat
Recline/Upright- I found that they were both easy to recline using the system in the back of the seats. I also found that both seats can go pretty far in the upright position which was a must for us because Mackenzie looks uncomfortable if she’s somewhat reclined in the stroller when she’s awake.
Material- I found the Zoe to be a little bit softer of a seat, but I thought the Minu would be a lot easier to wipe down.
Straps- Both straps are easy to buckle & release.
Stroller Basket
Both baskets are a decent size for a lightweight, more compact stroller. I can fit quite a bit in the Minu basket, but it’s not the easiest to get stuff in and out of.
Canopies
Both strollers have great canopies. The Zoe has a zipper so you can extend the canopy & the Minu has a reflective shield you can pull out of the canopy to extend the sunshade.
Snack Tray Options
The Zoe one we got comes with a regular bar, but you can remove it & put a snack cup & drink cup on either side of your child. While I loved that this was included, I found it somewhat difficult to them on tightly. You can buy an actual snack tray if you want to upgrade! You can purchase an actual snack tray here.
The Minu doesn’t come with a bar or snack tray, but since that was a must have for us, I purchased the snack tray & it’s great! Clips on easily & you can remove just one side to get your child in or out of the stroller easily without having to take the entire snack tray off.
Pushing
I have found that the Minu pushes easily and feels like a very smooth ride. You can definitely control it with just one hand.
The Zoe was also a smooth ride, but not as easily done with 1 hand as the Minu.
Carrying Bag
The Minu came with a storage bag, but I found it difficult to completely close it with the stroller inside. Believe me, we tried a few different ways and it still would not close. If we were to travel I would definitely find a bag that would completely close.
For the Zoe stroller you can purchase a storage/carry bag here.
Footrest
This is probably one of the better aspects of the Zoe over the Minu since I found them pretty comparable overall. On the Zoe you can pull out the foot rest so your child can rest their legs when napping. The Minu does not have this option.
Accessories
There are a few accessories I’ve already mentioned for both, but I’ll add the ones I would also purchase.
Uppababy Car Seat Adapters (for when we have another baby)
Uppababy Cup Holder (for adult drink)
Uppababy Cozy Ganoosh Foot Muff
Price
Right now, the list price for both of these strollers are:
Zoe Tour + Luxe $249
Uppababy Minu $399
Overall comparison:
Overall I found both strollers to be such great options for lightweight strollers. In terms of using either of them for 2 kids, I think the Zoe has the Uppababy beat here. You can buy a tandem stroller to attach to the Zoe to make it a double, which is pretty cool. The only way I can make the Uppababy a double is to use a universal kick board on the back. My cousin, who owns a Uppababy Minu stroller, has done this so I know it’s possible.
Another reason I chose the Uppababy over the Zoe was because when we do have another baby I can use her infant car seat with it. We have a Nuna Pipa car seat and I can buy an attachment to make it work with the Uppababy, but the Nuna Pipa is not compatible with the Zoe stroller.
I don’t think you can go wrong if you choose either of these strollers and I hope this post helps you decide if either of these strollers will work for your family! Let me know below if this was a helpful breakdown & if I should do them more often.
