About Me
My name is Melanie and I’m a new mom who lives in Connecticut with my husband Greg, daughter (I’m going to refer to her as M for now), and rescue pup Nala. I’m a former preschool special education teacher, recently turned stay at home mom (SAHM). Since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to a be a mom and that dream came true last year (July 2020) and I couldn’t be more excited for this new role! Being a new mom has been such an amazing venture so far, but it has also had its difficult moments, especially being that I became a mom during a global pandemic. I’m hoping to use this space to share the good and the not so good with new and old mama’s so they know they aren’t alone in their feelings!
I wanted the title of my blog to incorporate my new role as a mama since my hope is this will be a good place to discuss all things pertaining to motherhood, but I am also an avid skier (have been since I was 3) and it is one of my favorite things to do in life! There are a couple of ways I interpreted my own blog name. Being a diehard skier, I used the term “first tracks” which are new tracks carved in fresh snow that lead the way for others to follow. So, I’m hoping this can be a blog can help other mamas on their journey of motherhood. The name also refers to the fact that I’m a first-time mama making my own tracks as I begin my journey of motherhood. I will admit I’m no expert, but I hope you’ll come here to read my stories and maybe pick up some tips and tricks along the way!
