Here’s My List of Everything We Need for Baby #2!
We plan to reuse most of the “big stuff” we already have, but there are some things we’ll have to buy new.
Here’s my list of everything we plan to reuse:
– halo bassinest (We really liked this when we used it with Mackenzie. It sat right next to my side of the bed & the arm went down so it was easy to get her in & out)
– doona car seat/stroller (this was an investment, but probably one of my favorite baby items we used with Mackenzie)
– nuna car seat (we also had this one so we could use it with our stroller base. once the Doona got too heavy for everyday use, this was super helpful to have. It’s not necessary though if you have the Doona)
– colugo stroller, we’ll need a double eventually (this was a good stroller, but there’s very limited ways to make this work for two kids. I don’t even see it on their website anymore, so my guess is this wasn’t a big hit)
– highchair (this highchair worked well, but there are definitely pros & cons to it. I loved the magnetic tray so it was easy on & off, but not easy enough for a kid to remove it & it was super easy to clean. I didn’t like that there was no good foot rest for young babies & I also felt like Mackenzie was always slouching in it)
– we plan to go through our bins of clothing & see what we want to reuse
– swaddles (both velcro & blankets) (velcro swaddles are my go-to & I linked my favorite ones. we also have blanket swaddles that we used occasionally with Mackenzie)
– we also need to see how many burp cloths & bibs aren’t stained that can be reused
– bottles (we’ll buy new nipples) (I linked the ones that we used with Mackenzie, but definitely don’t buy a ton of one kind until you try a few out to find which one works best)
– bottle drying rack (I really liked this drying rack because it was super easy to keep clean & no place for mold to grow!)
– play gyms (we have a lovevery play gym & a finding nemo one)
– snuggle me lounger (with new cover)
– infant bath towels & wash cloths (I wouldn’t buy infant sized towels for a new baby because they grow out of them so fast, but since we already have them I’ll reuse them!)
– baby bath tub (this is the one we used with Mackenzie & I liked that it grew with her. we used it for a long time)
– bouncer (this is super light weight so easy to move from room to room)
– 4moms mamaroo (this swing is nice, but not a necessity. some babies love it & some babies hate it. we’ll use it again only because we already own it)
– downstairs changing table (having a changing table on the main level was KEY so I didn’t have to go up & down the stairs every time a diaper needed to be changed. this one wasn’t the prettiest, but worked great)
– boppy nursing pillow & covers
Here’s everything we plan to buy:
– new snuggle me lounger cover (I wanted to get a darker color than the one we have so I bought a new cover when it was on sale!)
– new nipples for our current bottles (I’ll need to buy new nipples for the bottles we currently have)
– crib (this is the crib I’m eyeing. I like that it is a mini crib, regular size crib, & toddler bed all in one. you don’t need to buy any extra pieces)
– crib mattress (we love this mattress for Mackenzie so we’ll buy a second one for baby boy’s crib)
– dresser (we’ll either swap out dresser’s with Mackenzie’s current one since she doesn’t use the changing table top anymore, or buy a new dresser & put the changing table top on the new dresser)
– second baby monitor that works with our current one (we love our nanit, so we bought a second one)
– clothes (I’ll share some of my favorite brands in another post & then link it here. hint hint: most of my favorite brands are bamboo brands so everything is so soft!)
– pacifiers (another thing we need to buy new for second baby. I like this pacifier box because, just like with bottles, it isn’t a one size fits all. you may need to try a few kids to see which one your kiddo likes best)
– bottle sterilizer (we had one when Mackenzie was a baby & it was super helpful with bottles & breast pump parts. we do need to buy a new one though & this is the one I’m looking to get)
– newborn diapers ( I love how soft the Huggies Special Delivery were with Mackenzie, but I may also try the Millie Moon ones at Target since I’ve heard they’re really soft too!)
– breast pump (you’re eligible to get a new breast pump with every pregnancy & I follow a lot of great accounts on instagram that do all the research to find the best one. the one I’ve linked seems to a be a great one that you can move around with, but I’ll check to see which one’s I’m eligible for with our insurance)
That’s my list of things we are planning to reuse & buy new. Please tell me what I’m forgetting on these two lists in the comments below, thanks!
