Overrated Baby Products
I asked on instagram a few weeks back for your most overrated baby item and I’m sharing them below! If you’re currently pregnant and looking at baby things you’ll need once baby arrives, check out this list for some things you may NOT need to get:
*Before I go into why I think these products are overrated, I should note that some items that are unnecessary to some, may be “must haves” for others.
- Swing- Some babies love a swing and some babies absolutely hate it. This is definitely a hit-or-miss baby product for sure.
- Boudreaux’s Butt Paste- I so wanted to love this diaper cream, but it’s so greasy and makes a mess. The only diaper cream I use now is triple paste.
- Dock-a-Tot/Snuggle Me Lounger- The snuggle me lounger was a MUST HAVE for me, but I know something like this was useless for other families. I loved being able to put her down as a newborn and feel that she was safe. She also seemed to like it. This can be a very expensive item that can only be used for a short amount of time, so I can see how this is an overrated product.
- Nested Bean Sleep Sack- Another product I so wanted to love because I liked the idea of a weighted sleep sack, but once she was sleeping on her tummy it was useless. I love our kytebaby sleep sacks!
- Crib Mobile- A mobile can make your entire nursery come together, but it can only stay over the crib for a short amount of time so people think they’re not needed. While mobiles are definitely not necessary, if you want one, a great place to put it is over the changing table because it can stay there for longer and keep your baby entertained while you change their diaper!
- Wipe Warmer- This is something I thought was overrated when I was looking to get baby products and never ended up getting one. I didn’t want her being used to warm wipes at home, but then cold wipes when we were out and needed a change.
