Top 12 Baby Products Through Six Months

The products I’m sharing below are the things we have used the most these past 6 months! There are so many products out there, but I wanted to share what has worked for us.  Everyone is different, especially babies, so something that has worked for us may not work for you, but I do think most of these baby products will be great to have in your baby arsenal!

All the links I’ve attached are from the product’s own company websites or where I purchased it.

Doona

Doona as a car seat
Doona as a stroller

This car seat/stroller is the BEST, it’s a car seat with wheels! The fact that we don’t have to have a separate stroller taking up space in the trunk has been a life saver for us! We have the Nuna Pipa RX car seat, but we’ve only used that one a handful of times (I can honestly say we have a little regret the Nuna car seat). We figured we would use the Nuna car seat more often since it is so light weight (7.6lbs!), but the convenience of the Doona has far outweighed the weight (no pun intended) of the Nuna Pipa RX. The Doona weighs 16.5 lbs, then add baby in there and I’m not going to lie, it gets HEAVY. You definitely get used to it and you rarely have to carry it anywhere since it has wheels. I know they have the Doona in person at Nordstrom if you feel like testing it out (that’s where I convinced Greg to get it)!

Inglesina Fast Table Chair

M just turned 6 months and we just started introducing solids. We have both a regular high chair that is next to our kitchen table and we have the Inglesina fast table chair that we leave attached to our kitchen island. We find ourselves feeding M in this chair at the island more often than her highchair. It feels extremely sturdy and I feel comfortable having her sit in it for a little bit of time, whether she’s eating or playing with her toys.

Busy Baby Mat

We just got this a month or so ago and it has been fantastic! It suctions to our island and you can tether toys to it so when your baby tries to drop her toys, they don’t fall all the way down! There are 4 spaces where you can attach toys, but when you buy the mat it only comes with 2. You have to pick toys that you are able to tether on (Malarkey Kids’ Chew Cube, Nuby Banana Teether, and anything with a whole works great!) M is currently exploring cause and effect, if I drop this toy, what happens? In her world, she drops it, it falls to the ground, and mommy or daddy pick it back up for me. Now, while I love seeing her learn new things, sometimes I don’t want to constantly be picking up a million toys off the ground so this mat definitely comes in handy! You can also use it as a food tray since it’s silicone and easily wipeable.

Dr. Brown’s Formula Pitcher

I found this product from @theformulamom on Instagram. We’ve been using formula since M was about 2 months old and let me tell you, it can be a pain to mix up a new bottle with a baby in your hands. This pitcher allows you to make a large amount of formula at once and then store it in the fridge for later use (up to 24 hrs). The different between this and a regular pitcher is the mechanism in the middle, it helps to stir up the clumps of formula. This has been a lifesaver!

Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleep Suit

Once your babe starts to roll it is no longer safe to swaddle them for naps or at night. Once M was out of the swaddle, we transitioned her into the Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleep Suit. Her startle reflex was still waking her at night so this suit allowed her to sleep on her back and not wake up from her own body movements. We used this sleep suit from about 2.5 months till about 5.5 months old. We only transitioned her out of it when we began sleep training and then transitioned her into a sleep sack. This sleep suit definitely attributed to many full nights of sleep for both baby and us!

KyteBABY Sleep Bag

We have a few different brands of sleep sacks, but my favorite is definitely the KyteBABY sleep bag. They come in different weights, they are made of bamboo so they are extremely soft, and it might just be me, but I swear M sleeps the best when she wears it. It’s definitely nerve-wracking to transition to a sleep sack since it gives baby the ability to roll onto her belly for sleep. The first night we put her in a sleep sack, she instantly rolled to her belly and slept the whole night on her stomach and has continued to do so for every nap and nighttime sleep since. The first night was definitely rough for us since we were worried that she was on her belly (face fully in the mattress), but the nerves subsided the next day when she woke from a good night sleep (we swear she’s been trying to sleep on her belly for a while, but didn’t have the ability to turn while she was in the Merlin Sleep Suit.)

MediFrida Accudose Pacifier

At M’s first doctor appointment I brought up my concern about some discomfort I was noticing. She was constantly putting her legs in the air, crying out, arching her back, and seemed extremely gassy. At her first doctor appointment her doctor told me to monitor it and let him know if it got worse. Well, it did and by the second appointment he said it sounds like she may have reflux. From about 2 months old she’s been on Prevacid for reflux, which meant we’ve had to give her medicine at least once a day for the past four months. We found the MediFrida Accudose Pacifier and it has been a game changer when giving M her medicine. I feel confident that if I need to give her medicine, any kind, that she will be able to do it since this accudose pacifier works so well!

Changing Table (amazon)

We saw this at a friend’s house and immediately ordered it. M was probably about 1 week old and we were tired of her peeing and pooping on our kitchen table [haha] when we would change her (everything, even poop, is extremely fluid that first week!). Her changing table is up in her room, but you change babies so often as infants that it wasn’t possible to go up and down that many times with her, especially since I was recovering from a c-section and my recovery was rough (a post for another day). This changing table has worked out great on our main level. It has storage on the side and we put a changing mat on top of the cover so we aren’t constantly washing the fabric cover. If you live in a multi-level home, having a changing table on the main level is a game changer!

Wet/Dry bags in diaper bag (amazon)

I have this problem where I need everything to be extremely organized, which I know it doesn’t sound like a problem, but sometimes I take it to the extreme (haha). Having an organized diaper bag is a must for me and I’ve used these wet/dry bags in different sizes to keep my bag clean and organized. I have a spot for everything and it helps me to know what I need to replenish in my bag.

Gathre Play Mat

We just got this for M’s main level play area. We started to notice that all of her baby stuff was beginning to take over the entire main living space and both Greg and I were getting stressed out over not having a designated play area for her on the main level. We have a fantastic space in the attic that works as a great play space, but I just don’t see us spending a ton of time up there right now since it’s so far away from everything else. This mat has helped to define an area for her where we can keep all of her toys. Best of all, the mat is extremely soft and looks great!

Nanit

We LOVE this camera! I wasn’t sure if I was going to love the nanit because it doesn’t come with a separate monitor, but the pros outweigh the cons for sure! I have a horrible time remembering when I put M down sometimes (let’s be honest, those first few weeks do you even know what day it is?) so the fact that the camera tracks all her sleep data, what time she fell asleep, how long she’s been asleep, and so much more, has been so helpful! There is so much sleep data that it may seem overwhelming, but it’s not and all the information ends up being super helpful. Seeing how much her sleep has improved week after week has been awesome to see. Besides not coming with a separate monitor, it also requires wifi so you need to make sure you have a good internet connection for this camera to work well for you! Overall, we have had a great experience with the nanit!

Baby OxiClean

My cousin recommended using this for those tough-to-get-out stains and all I have to say is, it works great for poop explosions! Let me tell you, those stains are sometimes huge and dark and I’ve never had to get rid of an outfit just because it was stained!
